以往用特例独行来形容苹果电脑最合适不过，但随着2006年2月28日的到来，苹果电脑全面转向英特尔平台，“特立独行”也只剩下白色的外观让让PC用户羡慕。这个曾经令苹果用户骄傲的Power架构全面转向了x86架构，在使得苹果电脑性能提升的同时，也提高了产品的兼容能力。

和iMac发布之初一样，新的Mac mini在方方面面都存在着神秘感，相信通过下面的介绍，读者会对英特尔版Mac mini有所简单的了解。

英特尔版的Mac mini有高、低两个型号的产品，处理器分别使用Intel Core Solo和Intel Core Duo，二者最大的区别就是Colo版为单核心处理器，Duo版为双核心处理器，因此在性能上特别是多任务处理方面二者有明显的区别。

两款最新英特尔处理器

平台架构的升级将带来整体性能的提升，采用Intel Core Solo处理器的Mac mini与采用IBM PowerPC G4处理器的Mac mini相比，整体性能提高了2.5～3.2倍之多，而采用Intel Core Duo处理器的Mac mini更是得到了4.8～5.5倍的性能提升。

新Mac mini增强的不仅仅是处理器部分，起网络接口升级为千兆网络、音频输出支持5.1声道，USB接口的数量增加到4个，用户可以更容易的连接除了键盘以外的其他周边设备，并且整体运行时非常安静。
